Ultra Green Smoothie by Gregg Noll

1st phase: Dry blending

Seeds: chia, black seeds, sunflower seeds, pumpkin seeds and flax seeds (teaspoon of each). Seeds are rich in proteins, iron, calcium, magnesium, phosphorus, zinc, B vitamins. Also, seeds are loaded with dietary fiber, protein, healthy fats, vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants.

Nuts: Almonds, walnuts, Brazil nuts (2-3 each). Deep soil nutrients and rich in Omega 3 fats. Also helps with absorption of micro-nutrients from greens.

Mushrooms: Chaga or any dried mushroom powder (one teaspoon) Immune strengthening

2nd phase: Fruit and Vegetable blending

Cruciferous Greens: Kale, Spinach, Collards, Rainbow chard, Arugula or Musturd greens, Watercress, Brussels sprouts, cabbage. You can be flexible with the greens...whatever is in season and abundant. The key point is variety. Each green has its own unique profile of nutrients that benefit the body in multiple ways. Focus on Cruciferous vegetables. These are most nutrient dense (and anti-cancer compounds) with the least amount of calories.

Other plant food: Turmeric root (best anti-inflammatory food), radish, add your favorites...

Fruit: Banana, apples, pineapple, berries, figs, dates and mango. Again you can be flexible with fruit...variety is key. When you first beginning make the smoothie sweet with fruit and as you advance then use less fruit and more green leafies.

Add water and blend

Best Blender is Vitamix because of strength and durability.

The beauty of blending is that the food gets broken down for greater absorption by the body…even better than chewing. Also, it’s a great way to eat those hard to eat veggies which are loaded with nutrients like kale, chard and collards. Blended smoothies also give you a lot of fiber that is natural contained in fruits and veggies which can be lost in juicing. Fiber is essential for good gut health.

** Important to note, it’s still very important to “eat” your salads as well. The enzymes that are released in chewing are critical to digestion. You can even chew your smoothies to stimulate the release of these beneficial enzymes!

Enjoy and know that your body is the temple of God so let’s be good stewards of this gift.
