Role Description

Internal

The assistant director is the right-hand man/woman of the director, their purpose is to remind the director to have fun and take care of themselves, and to assist the director with the details of planning and running of the camp/ program.

The Practicals

  • At the camp/ program, it's ideal if the assistant director (AD) is the main emcee (mostly for the evening programs, this is the main function of the AD), and other people can emcee under the guidance of the AD. The director and AD can take turns giving announcements before mealtimes.

  • Assistant director is part of the core team (Director, Education Director, General Affairs), and is expected to help with the planning of the camp/ program.
  • Approximate time commitment involved:
    • 3 months before the program (30 min-1 hr/week)
      • Advertising in local area (announcement at church, flyers)
      • Helping the Director find any other Key volunteers (Activities, Crafts, Break-down team leader, etc.)
      • Developing the Vision for the program

      • Advertising in local area (announcement at church, flyers)
      • Fine-tuning the schedule
      • Coordinating with Key volunteers to check in about planning progress
    • 1 month before the program (1-2 hrs/week, depending on availability)
      • Assigning participants to their volunteer positions
      • Calling participants to welcome them to the camp/ program and letting them know of their volunteer role, emailing them with a role description
