The ideal candidate loves Camp Shehaqua, wants to help others have a great experience at Family Camp, is skilled at having fun, enjoys taking care of others, shows up on time to all presentations and activities, listens attentively to presenters, is comfortable speaking in small group settings, and is 16 years or older. No prior leadership experience at Shehaqua programs or other programs is required as training will be provided through the Leadership Retreat. If you’ve been a group leader at a Shehaqua Family program in the past, we would love to have you back! All those who qualify to be a group leader or assistant at Family Camp will have the opportunity to attend this year’s Leadership Retreat at no cost to you right before the start of the 1st week of camp, Fri. July 19th - Sun. July 21st.

So if you are available to be a group leader during one of these weeks, please include this in your email.

This year's Leadership Retreat will offer a unique opportunity for all Shehaqua Group Leaders to have a lot of fun, bond with one another (before taking on group members), and experience personal growth. Possible activities include: volleyball tournament, intensive hike or swimming at the lake. Discussion-driven educational sessions will also give you the opportunity to gain and develop essential skills and tools for being an effective leader at Shehaqua programs and beyond.

This retreat is only open to those who take on a leadership position at Shehaqua Family Camp. Due to the importance of building unity among the Shehaqua leadership team and making sure all Shehaqua group leaders are spiritually and physically equipped to lead their teams, participation in this retreat is mandatory for all NEW Shehaqua group leaders and group assistants no matter what week of camp you will be attending and strongly encouraged for all returning leadership.

In addition to the Leadership Retreat before Week 1, there will be a special one day FREE Outing just for the group leaders. Each of the Outings will be a lot of fun and give participants the opportunity to bond with one another (before taking on group members), and experience personal growth. Due to the importance of building unity among the Shehaqua leadership team, these Outings are mandatory for all week 2 and week 3 leaders to attend. For all Week 2 leaders the Outing will start at 12pm on Sunday, July 28th. For all Week 3 leaders the Outing will start at 12pm on Sunday, August 4th.

Week 1 dates: Sunday July 21st - Friday July 26th
Week 2 dates: Monday July 29th - Saturday August 3rd
Week 3 dates: Monday August 5th – Saturday August 10th
